The 10th Annual Right to Run Weekend Celebration will return to Seneca Falls this Mother’s Day weekend with a series of events focused on women’s history, art, wellness, and community engagement.

The two-day celebration, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, will feature the debut of “Dendrofemonology: A Feminist History Tree Ring,” a large-scale sculpture by artist, filmmaker, and author Tiffany Shlain. The installation will be displayed at the historic Wesleyan Chapel, the site of the 1848 Women’s Rights Convention.

The sculpture, created from reclaimed cedar wood, traces 50,000 years of feminist history through text burned into the rings of the tree. Organizers say the piece has previously appeared at locations including the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and Madison Square Park in New York City.

Friday evening’s events will include a keynote address from Shlain, followed by the opening of the installation and the annual 1848 Block Party on Mynderse Street and Declaration Park. Live music, food, wine, and beer from Finger Lakes vendors will also be featured.

Saturday’s activities will include the Right to Run 5K beginning at 9 a.m. at the National Women’s Hall of Fame. Organizers say the race route passes several historic women’s rights landmarks throughout Seneca Falls.

Additional events scheduled throughout the weekend include wellness workshops, walking tours, author talks, a vendor village, and a Mother’s Day sidewalk sale along Fall Street. Shlain will also host a reading and signing for her book “24/6,” alongside author Lauren Schiller.

The Right to Run Weekend Celebration is hosted by Women’s Right to Run 19K, Inc. Organizers say the annual event draws more than 500 runners and visitors from across New York and multiple other states.
