The Geneva Family YMCA will soon begin the search for a new executive director.
Todd Freelove is leaving the organization as executive director and CEO of the YMCA on August 15, ending a little more than two years in the permanent leadership role. He previously served as interim executive director following the departure of former CEO Mary Bakogiannis.
Freelove’s tenure coincided with the YMCA’s $5 million renovation and expansion project, which is now nearing completion. The final phase of the project is the construction of a new front entrance.
The four-phase project included a 10,000-square-foot addition and significant upgrades throughout the facility, including a larger strength and fitness center, a new senior lounge, renovated adult locker rooms, and expanded community space.
The YMCA board has begun planning for its leadership transition.
