An Auburn man was arrested after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop in Wayne County, leading law enforcement on a pursuit through three counties.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Darren Vatter on State Route 14 in the Town of Lyons after observing a traffic violation. According to investigators, Vatter refused to stop and continued south into Ontario County before traveling east on Route 318 into Seneca County. Deputies ultimately took him into custody near the intersection of Route 318 and Route 89.
Vatter was charged with unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration, and resisting arrest.
Deputies said their investigation determined Vatter was operating the vehicle while under the influence.
He was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office for processing before being released on appearance tickets and multiple traffic citations.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Police, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Police and the Seneca Falls Police Department.
