The public is invited to provide input on plans for the Yates County Veterans Memorial Park during a community meeting Thursday in Penn Yan.

The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Penn Yan American Legion.

Project organizers are documenting the existing conditions of the cemetery and chapel while researching the site’s history. The Veterans Memorial Park board has partnered with Cornell University’s Design Connect program to assist with planning the park.

Cornell architecture student Ray Wang will give a presentation during the meeting, followed by an opportunity for questions and public feedback.

The board is particularly interested in hearing from people with personal connections to the cemetery or chapel. Organizers are also seeking input from those with experience in history, architecture, engineering, historic preservation or fundraising.

Officials said community stories and local knowledge will help guide the park’s development and ensure it reflects Yates County’s history and values.
