Residents served by the Village of Aurora public water system are being asked to conserve water until further notice following a water main break on the former Wells College campus.

According to the Cayuga County Health Department, the break has forced the village to rely solely on its Sherwood Road water storage tank while repairs are underway. Officials said a small number of properties are currently without water service as a result of the break.

The Village of Aurora and the Cayuga County Health Department are asking all customers on the public water system to limit water use until the damaged main has been repaired and the conservation request is lifted.

Residents will be notified when normal operations resume and the conservation order is no longer in effect.

Anyone with questions can contact the Village of Aurora at 315-364-7293 or the Cayuga County Health Department at 315-253-1560.
