A longtime Ontario County 911 dispatcher has been recognized for nearly two decades of service to the community.
Senior Communications Officer Nathan Martin was honored Thursday by the Kiwanis Club of Geneva as a recipient of its 2026 Hometown Hero Award.
Martin has served as a 911 dispatcher for the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years, including the last 12 in a supervisory role. During that time, he has helped coordinate emergency responses and provided leadership in the county’s emergency communications center.
His public service extends beyond his role as a dispatcher. Martin is a past fire chief and life member of the West Lake Road Fire Department. He also serves as a volunteer deputy fire coordinator with Ontario County Emergency Management and is a member of both the Ontario County Fire Advisory Board and the Communications Advisory Board.
In announcing the award, the Sheriff’s Office said Martin’s dedication to public service also includes mentoring young athletes through youth hockey and spending time sharing his passion for the outdoors with family and friends.
The Kiwanis Club of Geneva’s Hometown Hero Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities through service and leadership.
