The Odessa-Montour School Board will put a revised budget back before voters in June after the district’s original spending plan was rejected earlier this month.

Days after the defeat, the board approved placing an amended $23.15 million budget before voters on June 16. Polls will be open from noon until 8 p.m.  A public hearing on the plan will be held on June 8th at 5:30 p.m.

The revised proposal lowers the tax levy increase to 6.2%, down from the original 13% increase included in the district’s first budget proposal, which voters rejected on May 19. District officials said the updated spending plan was made possible by additional state Foundation Aid and increased pre-kindergarten aid announced this week.

Despite the reduction, the proposed tax levy increase still exceeds the district’s state tax cap of 3.12%, meaning the budget must receive support from at least 60% of voters to pass.

If the revised budget fails, the district would be required to adopt a contingency budget.
