A Farmington woman is facing a felony charge after Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies say she used someone else’s debit card to make thousands of dollars in unauthorized purchases.
Deputies were called to a home on South Street in the hamlet of Stanley on Thursday afternoon to investigate a reported larceny. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the investigation found that 49-year-old Andrea Lazauskas allegedly used another person’s debit card without permission to make numerous transactions.
Authorities say the unauthorized purchases totaled approximately $6,317.86.
Lazauskas was arrested and charged with first-degree identity theft. She was taken to centralized arraignment court and later released with an appearance ticket for Seneca Town Court.
The charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
