A Newark man has been charged with two felony counts following a child exploitation investigation led by the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department.
Police said the investigation began after a complaint was received on Sunday. The next day, at approximately 6 p.m., investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the Village of Newark. During the search, authorities said they recovered evidence connected to an ongoing investigation involving the alleged promotion of obscene and sexual performances by a child under the age of 16.
As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Julian Webber was charged with one count of Promoting an Obscene Sexual Performance by a Child and one count of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child, both Class D felonies.
Webber was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where he was being held on bail pending further court proceedings.
Police said the investigation remains active and additional charges are anticipated. Orders of protection have been issued on behalf of the victims.
The Town of Seneca Falls Police Department was assisted by the Village of Newark Police Department during the execution of the search warrant and arrest.
As with all criminal cases, the charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
