The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in last week’s fatal tanker truck crash in the Town of Scipio.

Investigators say 46-year-old Dewite Curtis of Lisle died in the crash, which occurred last Thursday morning, along Route 34-B.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Curtis was driving a manure tanker when the vehicle traveled off the shoulder of the roadway. As he attempted to steer the truck back onto the road, the tanker overturned.

Curtis, who was the truck’s only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.
