With the first half of 2026 passed, how has Cayuga County fared in its effort to reduce overdoses within its borders?
According to data from the county’s overdose dashboard, the county recorded 49 suspected overdoses between January and June of 2026, three of which were fatal. This represents a slight uptick from the same period of time in 2025, when the county recorded 44 suspected overdoses, one of which was fatal.
These numbers are still significant declines when compared to previous years on record, going back to 2020. For example, 2021 saw 146 reported overdoses between January and June, including nine fatalities.
