The Trumansburg community is coming together to support a local high school student recovering from a serious weight training accident.
16-year-old Trumansburg High School student and multi-sport athlete Lucas Vann was seriously injured last week during a weight training accident. He was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
According to organizers of a community fundraiser, the surgery was successful, and Lucas has begun his recovery. However, they say he faces a lengthy rehabilitation, and his family is dealing with significant unexpected expenses, including travel, lodging, meals and other costs related to his medical care.
Community members describe Lucas as a dedicated teammate who is known for his positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to help others both on and off the field.
In response, supporters have launched a fundraiser to help ease the financial burden on the Vann family while they focus on Lucas’s recovery. Organizers say donations of any amount are appreciated and will help cover expenses incurred during his treatment.
Those who are unable to contribute financially are encouraged to share the fundraiser and keep Lucas and the Vann family in their thoughts as he continues his recovery.
