Multiple boats were destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday on Canandaigua Lake in the Town of Middlesex.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and the Middlesex Fire Department were dispatched to a residence on Glenn Avenue at approximately 4:58 a.m. on July 2 for a reported boat fire.
When emergency crews arrived, they found several boats fully engulfed in flames while secured in their boat hoists along the waterfront.
Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, and the Yates County Fire Investigation Team responded to determine the cause of the fire.
Officials said none of the boats were occupied at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Rushville, City of Canandaigua, and Cheshire Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
