Motorists traveling through the Village of Dundee should expect delays this week as work begins on a traffic signal project at one of the community’s busiest intersections.

The New York State Department of Transportation announced that traffic at the intersection of State Route 14 and Union Street/Seneca Street will be controlled by flaggers from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Tuesday.

The work is expected to continue for four days and be completed by the end of the day on Friday, weather permitting.

Drivers should anticipate delays while crews complete the signal work and are encouraged to consider alternate routes if possible. DOT officials noted that construction schedules are weather dependent and could change if conditions warrant.

The department is also reminding motorists to slow down and use caution in work zones. Under New York law, fines are doubled for speeding in active work zones, and drivers convicted of two or more work zone speeding violations could face suspension of their driver’s license.
