A Cazenovia man was arrested on Thursday following a joint investigation into explicit communications involving a child.
The New York State Police arrested Travis Longo, 46, following a law enforcement referral received by the Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Oneida. Investigators determined that Longo allegedly engaged in a pattern of sexually explicit communications with a child under the age of 12.
Longo faces four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, which is a class A misdemeanor.
The arrest was the result of a collaborative investigation conducted by members of the Troop D Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the State Police Computer Crime Unit, the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit, and the Madison County Child Advocacy Center.
A number of Syracuse news outlets reported Longo, who also goes by the name of Travis Barr, is Vice President of the Cazenovia School Board of Education. As of Friday afternoon, his name was still listed on the school’s website as a Board of Education member.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims who were contacted by Longo. Anyone with information is urged to contact the New York State Police at Troop D Headquarters at (315) 366-6000 and reference case number NY2600762245.
Following his arrest, Longo was transported to Madison County CAP Court for centralized arraignment.
