Another important endorsement for one of the two men hoping to become Auburn’s next mayor.
Jimmy Giannettino has received the backing of The Professional Emergency Medical Technicians of Auburn City Ambulance IAFF Local 5379, the union representing the city’s ambulance service.
In its decision to endorse the Democratic candidate, the union stated “Mr. Giannettino has been a strong supporter of starting this service and has maintained his position on having a city ambulance. Mr. Giannettino has shown active interest in our organization and was on the front line riding along with duty crews, witnessing firsthand the patient care that the EMTs and Paramedics provide. We are confident that if elected Mayor, Mr. Giannettino will continue to understand that emergency medical services are essential to the city and will support our operations.”
Giannettino told Finger Lakes News Radio that he is honored to receive the union’s endorsement and will do everything he can to live up to the expectations it has of him.
He faces off against Republican and former mayor Tim Lattimore in the race to be Auburn’s first new mayor since 2008.
Giannettino, a current city councilor, has already received the support of the city’s police union, firefighters union, the union representing area healthcare workers, and retiring mayor Mike Quill.
