Canandaigua Motorcyclist Airlifted After Crash at Gorham Intersection

A Canandaigua man was flown to the hospital Thursday evening after a motorcycle crash at the intersection of State Route 247 and Lake to Lake Road in the Town of Gorham.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the two-vehicle crash at approximately 6:52 p.m. after receiving a report that a motorcyclist had been ejected.

Investigators said 52-year-old Edward Skinner of Canandaigua was riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Lake to Lake Road. Although Skinner stopped at the stop sign, deputies allege he then entered the intersection and collided with a Kia Soul traveling southbound on State Route 247.

Skinner was thrown from the motorcycle and was flown by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital with what authorities described as non-life-threatening injuries to his left leg.

The driver of the Kia, 31-year-old Steven Snyder of Rushville, was evaluated by emergency medical personnel at the scene but declined further treatment.

Deputies issued Skinner a traffic ticket for allegedly failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign. Snyder was also ticketed for allegedly operating a vehicle while his driver’s license was revoked.

The intersection was closed for a period of time while emergency crews investigated the crash and cleared the scene.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Mercy Flight, Canandaigua Ambulance, Middlesex Ambulance, the Rushville Fire Department, and the Gorham Fire Department.
