University of Rochester Medicine Finger Lakes Health is expanding pediatric services into Geneva with the addition of a new practice led by longtime local pediatrician Dr. Grace Freier.
The health system announced Dr. Freier will serve as medical director of the expanded pediatric program while continuing to see patients at Lifecare Medical Associates in Seneca Falls.
The expansion marks the first time UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health will offer dedicated pediatric care in Geneva. The practice will initially operate from Finger Lakes Health Primary Care on the second floor of the medical office building on the Geneva General Hospital campus. A permanent pediatric office is planned for the building’s first floor next summer following extensive renovations.
“Our goal is to expand access to high-quality pediatric care for families throughout our region,” Dr. Freier said. “I am excited to welcome two outstanding pediatricians to our team as we continue to meet the growing needs of children and families in our community. This expansion creates a dedicated pediatric office where children will receive personalized care from providers they know and trust.”
Joining Dr. Freier are Dr. Marissa Rice, who is now accepting new patients, and Dr. Aparna Peri, who is expected to join the practice in September.
Dr. Rice most recently practiced at Boston Children’s Hospital and Atrius Health in Concord, Massachusetts. She completed her pediatric residency at Boston Children’s Hospital after earning her medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Professional Society on the Abuse of Children.
Finger Lakes Health officials said the expansion is intended to improve access to pediatric care for families across the region while giving patients the benefit of the University of Rochester Medicine’s network of specialists and resources.
Families receiving care through the new practice will also have access to MyChart, allowing them to schedule appointments, communicate with providers, review test results, and manage their children’s healthcare online.
