A Canandaigua man is facing a felony charge after a piece of heavy equipment reported stolen from Pennsylvania was located in Yates County.

Matthew Gullace, 53, was arrested Thursday morning. Deputies charged him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, which is a Class D felony.

The arrest follows an investigation that began on June 26, when Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified by a Home Depot store in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that a 35-foot boom lift belonging to them was located at a residence in the Town of Middlesex. Following a police investigation, authorities determined that Gullace was in possession of the equipment, which had originally been reported stolen in Pennsylvania on June 19.

Gullace was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge in the Town of Middlesex Court at a later date.

The charge is an accusation, and Enos is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
