Multiple historical and cultural sites in Auburn are partnering to host an upcoming major art exhibition focusing on the life of one of the city’s most famous residents.

Featuring work from over 40 artists in a variety of media, Harriet: A Taste of Freedom presents artistic interpretations of important moments in Harriet Tubman’s life. The exhibition, curated by artist Larry Poncho Brown, debuted in 2025 at the Harriet Tubman Freedom Center in Cambridge, Maryland.

In Auburn, the works will be on display at the Cayuga Museum, Schweinfurth Art Center, Equal Rights Heritage Center, Seward House Museum, and Willard Memorial Chapel. The Cayuga Museum, the coordinating agency, will host the largest amount of artwork.

The Cayuga Museum will hold a preview reception on July 17 at its 203 Genesee St campus. The event will run from 5:00-7:00p and feature free admission and light refreshments.

The exhibition will be on display from July 17 to October 17.
