F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua has restricted access to its campus while officials investigate what the hospital described as an active threat outside the facility.
In a statement posted on its website on Thursday morning, hospital officials said they are working with the Canandaigua Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to determine the validity of the threat.
As a precaution, access to the hospital campus has been limited to associates only. Hospital employees entering the facility are being screened before being allowed inside.
Officials said overnight associates currently on site will be permitted to leave once their replacements have completed the screening process.
No additional details about the nature of the threat were immediately released.
Hospital officials said they will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available and thanked the community for its understanding during the investigation.
