Plans are continuing to take shape for a new animal rescue center at the former Beverly Animal Shelter site in Seneca County.
According to reporting by the Finger Lakes Times, Caitlin Reese is moving forward with preparations for what will be known as the Animal Rescue Center of Seneca County at 50 E. River St. in Waterloo.
Reese has been working at the property since March, where she has focused on cleaning and evaluating the facility as she works to bring the site into compliance with updated state requirements for animal shelters and rescues.
The property was previously home to Beverly Animal Shelter, which operated for more than three decades under the late Dallyn Jenkins before her death in 2024. Jenkins left the property to Reese, who has since taken over its redevelopment for animal rescue operations.
Seneca Falls Supervisor Frank Schmitter recently noted at a Seneca County Board of Supervisors meeting that Reese intends to establish a new rescue organization at the site.
The shelter closed earlier this year after Reese and the former shelter board parted ways. However, some services have continued on the property, including spay-and-neuter clinics operated through Operation Healthy Pets, led by Reneé Paddock of Savannah.
A website for the new organization indicates work is ongoing as preparations continue. It states the facility is being developed as a clean, compliant rescue center focused on animal welfare, with updates expected as reopening efforts progress.
Reese has also outlined a broader mission for the center, focused on providing medical care and adoption services for animals in Seneca County while maintaining structured rescue operations.
A donation drop box for bottles and cans is currently located at the site. Organizers say they are also working with a local redemption center to establish a direct drop-off system.
Additional information and updates are expected to be shared through the organization’s website and contact email as the project moves forward.
