A busy bridge in the City of Auburn is set to close for at least a year this month.
Speaking on FLX Morning, City Clerk Chuck Mason said the Lake Ave Bridge is scheduled to close on June 29 for rehabilitation work. The work, which Mason said is anticipated to cost approximately $9 million, is expected to extend the bridge’s life by 25 to 30 years.
During the closure, drivers will need to cross the Owasco Outlet via the city’s downtown bridges or White Bridge Road in Owasco. The bridge is expected to remain closed through August 2027.
Mason added that the city will also repave the second section of Lake, extending from Swift Street to Auburn High School. Earlier this year, the city began work on the section of Lake Ave between Osborne and Swift Streets.
The work on Lake Ave and its bridge is part of the construction plan for roadways across the city, including microsurfacing and crack sealing.
