Auburn residents can now beat the heat as the city’s Casey Park pool opens for the summer.
The pool opened on Friday, allowing Auburn residents a chance to cool off during the hot summer months.
Originally, the city planned not to open the pool this year, citing financial constraints and structural work needed to keep the space safe; however, the YMCA stepped in to help alleviate the costs.
“We want to give families and kids exposure and access to water and, most importantly, a safe water experience. And we believe Casey Park is a critical part of what that looks like in the city of Auburn,” said YMCA CEO Scott Sincerbeaux.
Through an agreement, the city fixed the structural issues, while the YMCA donated lifeguard services; additionally, there was a $15,000 contribution from Wegmans.
Hours are expected to be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
