A 95-year-old man suffered minor injuries after his vehicle struck a parked logging trailer in the Town of Palmyra.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on Cambier Road. Investigators say Nickolus Rasch was driving south when he approached a logging truck and trailer parked on the west shoulder of the road. Deputies said Rasch had approximately 300 feet of clear visibility but failed to safely maneuver around the parked truck, striking the trailer’s loading ramps.
The impact caused Rasch to lose control of his vehicle, which went down an embankment and into a wooded area.
Bystanders helped Rasch out of his vehicle and back to the roadway before emergency responders arrived. He was transported by Finger Lakes Ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation of minor injuries.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Palmyra and East Palmyra fire departments, Finger Lakes Ambulance, and several local citizens.
