AURORA | Norma â€œPollyâ€? Evelyn McGuire, 90, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Longview in Ithaca. She was born on Nov. 29, 1922 in Whitesville, N.Y. She was the beloved wife of Henry J. McGuire, whom she married on June 12, 1943 and who preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1998. Her two sons, David P. and H. Joseph McGuire also preceded her in death. She was the daughter of Harry and Lucy M. Bailey Stillman. She was a long-time parishioner and neighbor of St. Patrick's Church in Aurora. There was nothing more important to her than her family, friends, and home in Aurora. She was an avid reader, with a love of travel. She took special interest in creating her gardens for all to enjoy. She left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her love of family was most evident at her much anticipated annual family reunion on the shores of Cayuga Lake. She spent time volunteering at the Aurora Free Library, Cayuga County Meals on Wheels, and Cayuga County Homemakers. She was also active in St. Patrick's Church Altar and Rosary Society, Thursday Club of Aurora, and the Garden Club of Aurora. Surviving are two sons, Stephen McGuire and his wife, Patricia, of West Chester, Pa., and Peter McGuire and his wife, Jaime, of Wyckoff, N.J.; two daughters, Ellen McGuire Smith and her husband, Jerry, of Naperville, Ill., and Karen McGuire Lanigan and her husband, Marty, of Basking Ridge, N.J.; one daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Garmany McGuire, of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; 13 grandchildren, Stephen Smith and his wife, Sharon, Megan Smith Gabaldon and her husband, Ron, Brian Smith and his wife, Erin, Erin McGuire Simon and her husband, Kurt, Katie McGuire, Amy McGuire Diobilda and her husband, Darren, David McGuire, Brenna McGuire, Casey McGuire, Sean McGuire, Brendon McGuire, Mary Kate Lanigan, and Matthew Lanigan; 10 great-grandchildren, Shannon, Connor, and Rachael Smith, Hannah, Brady, and Bailey Gabaldon, Ethan, Lucy, and Audrey Smith, and Alexis Simon. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Shakelton Funeral Home, Aurora. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon Monday, March 11, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church in Aurora.
