Geneva - Helen J. (Verzillo) Simeone, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday (February 17, 2013) at Geneva General Hospital surrounded by her family at the age of 91.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb.19) at the McGuigan & Bero Funeral Home 45 High St. Geneva. Funeral services will be Wednesday (Feb. 20) at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis deSales Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum.

Helen was born on January 23, 1922 in Seneca Falls, the daughter of the late Dominick and Nunziata Verzillo. She was a proud graduate of Mynderse Academy. Helen worked for many years at the Village Store at the Town and Country Plaza and Fannie Farmer Candy Store in Downtown Geneva.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish for over 60 years and volunteered at the Center of Concern and Food Pantry in Geneva.
She is survived by her children, Michael Simeone of Rochester, Patrick (Mickey) Simeone of Pine Island, Fla., Susan (Ernest) D'Amato of Seneca Falls and Judi (Donald) Snow of Colorado; nine grandchildren, Sara (Damon) Essler of N.C., Michael Simeone of Conn. and Thomas Simeone of Rochester, Jessica (Victor) Cooper of Georgia and Kayleigh Simeone of Georgia, Ernie D'Amato of Seneca Falls and Christopher D'Amato of Seneca Falls, Sam Snow of Colo. and Molly Snow of Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Everett; sister, Vilma (Joseph) Avveduti of Seneca Falls; dedicated brother-in-law, Anthony Simeone of Geneva, brother-in-law, John (Carmella) Simeone of Geneva; sister-in-law, Caroline Quillen of Geneva, sister-in-law, Lina Simeone of Geneva; several nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Michael "Red" Simeone; sisters, Mary Nicandri, Frances Capacci, Pierina Clark and Eleanor Izzo; brother, Daniel Verzillo.
The family would like to thank Dr. Baez and the staff on I.C.U. at Geneva General Hospital for the wonderful care. Also would like to thank the staff at Living Center North 2, especially the Aides that were in direct contact with their mother.
