Roger L. Baker Dec. 22, 1926 - Feb. 5, 2013 BLOOMFIELD - Former Bloomfield resident, Roger Baker, 86, died on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home. A Jamestown, N.Y. native, Roger was born on Dec. 22, 1926, to the late Robert and Elinor Hills Baker. He was a graduate of Newark High School and Brockport State Teachers College. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Roger began his 30-plus-year teaching career in Warsaw, N.Y., later teaching in Ripley, N.Y. and Irondequoit. He retired from the Rochester City School District in 1982. Roger was a member of Bloomfield American Legion Post 970; a 40-year member of Bloomfield Lions Club; and a member of Bloomfield-Holcomb Chamber of Commerce and the New York State Retired Teachers Association. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Reid Baker of Clifton Springs; children, Linda (Rick) Rayburn of Bloomfield, Reid (Margie) Baker of Ft. Collins, Colo., Karen Baker of Canandaigua and Cynthia (Jeff) Eddy of Middlesex; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Tremper of California and Roberta Angel of Oregon; along with several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 until 3 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua, where funeral services will be held following visitation at 3 o'clock. The Rev. Jeri Kober will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be held in East Bloomfield Cemetery in the spring.
