AUBURN | George A. DeForest, 92, of Auburn, formerly of Genoa, joined our Lord on Jan. 26, 2013, from Mercy Health & Rehabilitation Center. Born June 15, 1920, in the town of Venice, George, the son of George and Tannie DeForest, graduated from Genoa Central School and worked for years as a mechanic and a service manager in various Moravia dealerships, as manager of Genoa's Clinton Hardware and later with Wheat Bros. Hardware in Moravia. He retired from Lehigh Lumber of Moravia in 1982. He was choir director of St. Hilary's Catholic Church in Genoa until it closed. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Millie; their sons, Craig (Linda), of Elbridge; Vaughn, of Brunswick, Maine; and Joseph (Kathy), of Genoa; their 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, East Genesee Street, Auburn. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
