CAYUGA | Miles R. Uebelman, 56, of Towpath Road, Cayuga, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Rochester, he was the son of the late Edward and Joan Rancier Uebelman. Miles was a 1974 graduate of Union Springs High School. He received his apprentice certificate in tool and dye making from Central Tech in Syracuse and was employed with Welch Allyn as a tool and dye maker for 35 years. Miles was a son of the American Legion and member of the Weedsport Rod and Gun Club and Cayuga Waterfront Music Festival. He enjoyed golfing, NASCAR, hunting, boating, snowmobiling and bowling. He was known for his love of music and for entertaining his many friends and family in his self-built bar above his garage. He was a former board member of the Village of Cayuga, former member of the Masonic Temple and a former volunteer for the Cayuga Fire Department. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Linda Page Uebelman, of Cayuga; two sons, Nicholas (Kari) Uebelman and Eric Uebelman, all of Auburn; two brothers, Britt (Terri) Uebelman, of Auburn and Devin (Tammy) Uebelman, of Port Byron; two sisters, Starla (Phil) Webster, of Auburn and Londie (John) Raymond, of South Carolina; six grandchildren, Haden and Matthew Uebelman and Steven, Carly Ann, Alex and Dillon Mumford; a step son, Steven Mumford, of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews and by his beloved dog, Junior. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a step son, Michael Mumford, in 2009. Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28, at Langham Funeral Home, Auburn. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Cayuga Methodist Church, Center Street, Cayuga. Contributions may be made in memory of Miles to the Cayuga Fire Department, the Cayuga Ladies Auxiliary, Route 90, Cayuga, NY or to the Cayuga Waterfront Music Festival, PO Box 293, Cayuga, NY 13034. Mile's love for people was even expressed through being a donor. Two people will have eyes to see and many others will benefit through his beautiful gift.
