Mary Rita Morrissette, 85, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at home surrounded by her loving family. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at Becker-Keysor Funeral Home, 6816 Church St., Red Creek. A Celebration of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at St. John's Catholic Church, Port Byron. Spring burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Jordan. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Finger Lakes, 1130 Corporate Drive, Auburn, NY 13021, in her memory. Rita was born Feb. 23, 1927 in Massena, a daughter to the late Emery and Yvonne Vive Godreau. She retired from St. Joseph's Hospital as a nurse. After retirement, she worked various health care positions. Rita enjoyed the outdoors, including cross country skiing, swimming and Doubledays baseball games. She was in the church choir, enjoyed her flower gardens and was an avid Syracuse basketball fan. She is survived by her children, Keith (Roberta), Linda (Andy), Lauren (Dave), Wanda (Willie), Bonnie (John), David (Deborah), Carol (Tony), Bob (Shari), Nancy (Ron), Jay (Linda), Dale (Nora), Jon (Mel), Joe and Gary (Laurie); 48 grandchildren; 72 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Pearl Simmons; one brother, Donnie (Evelyn) Godreau; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alcide in 1981; son, Randy; grandson, Joshua; great-granddaughter, Zoey; two sisters and five brothers.
