MORAVIA | David Allen Baier, 75, of 5443 Brockway Road, Moravia, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Cortland Regional Medical Center. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late, Raymond E. and Catherine O'Grady Baier, Sr. David was a 1956 Holy Family High School graduate and received his teaching degree from Syracuse University. He was an Army veteran, where he was an instructor on the M1 Range. David was a self-employed, custom home builder for more than 50 years and owner of DABCO Construction Company, building 105 homes in the Auburn area. He was a true outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing, relaxing at his pond and animals. He enjoyed collecting antique toys and trains and building mahogany boats. He is survived by his wife, Christine Merrill Baier; a son, David Michael Baier, of Owasco; two daughters, Bridget (Tom) Marnocha, of Florida and Doreen Dill Baier, of Union Springs; two stepsons, Stephen Samasuck, of Auburn and Scott (Arryn) Samarisi, of Staten Island; two grandchildren, Madalyn and Michael Samarisi; sister-in-laws, Emily, Barb and Joan Baier; brother-in-law, Bill Loeper; several nieces and nephews and by his beloved dogs, Tony and Tory. David was predeceased by his three brothers, Richard, John and Raymond Baier, Jr. (Bud); a sister, Lorraine Loeper and by a grandson, Jai Dill. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at Langham Funeral Home, 75 E. Genesee St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Sacred Heart Church, followed by burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
