ELLINGTON, Conn. | William A. Riddlesworth, 76, beloved husband of, Julie (Moore) Riddlesworth, of Ellington, Conn., died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, at home, with his family by his side. Born in Auburn on March 13, 1936, son of the late, Willie and Violet (Cantrell) Riddlesworth, he was raised in Auburn, had lived in South Windsor, Conn. for 30 years, before moving to Ellington nine years ago. Before retiring, he was an actuary for Aetna Life Insurance Company, in Hartford, Conn. Bill was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, South Windsor, where he was a longtime treasurer, a member of choir and the vestry. Earlier, he was a scout leader, a longtime bowler, and a fan of all sports, especially hockey. In addition to his wife, he leaves four children, William A. Riddlesworth and his wife, Robin, of Vernon, Conn., Susan Lovejoy, of Vernon, Conn., Thomas J. Riddlesworth and his wife, Linda, of Bolton, Conn., and Robert J. Riddlesworth and his wife, Pamela, of Alliance, Ohio; a brother, Arthur A. Riddlesworth, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, William C. Lovejoy, Kimberly J. Riddlesworth, W. Alan Riddlesworth, Jr., Emily R. Riddlesworth and Bobbie J. Lyon; a great-grandson, William C. Lovejoy, Jr., and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 109 Sand Hill Road, South Windsor. His family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today, at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Road, South Windsor.
