PENN YAN - Betty A. Wood, 78, formerly of Penn Yan passed away Wednesday (November 27, 2012) at M M Ewing Continuing Care Center Canandaigua.
Calling hours for Betty will be held Saturday (December 8) from 11 to 1 p.m. at Weldon Funeral Home followed by a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either M M Ewing Continuing Care Wish Upon a Star Program, Canandaigua or to Alzheimer's Association .
Betty was born January 21, 1934 the daughter of Loren and Cora Cornish. She attended Dundee Schools, worked at Niesner's then Ames from 1963 to 1998 and was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by one son, John Bell of Dundee; four daughters, Judy Johnson of Dundee, Kim (Jamie) Pierce of Dundee, Sonja (Christopher) Baker of Naples and Tammy (Niel Belmont) Leo of Bloomfield; and step-daughter, Jackie Becker of Stanley; 21 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen Cornish; a sister, Mildred (Roy) Kinney and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Nick, 1999; children, Jacqueline Burd, Nancy Ayers, step-son, John Wood; brothers, Kenneth, Donald and Jack; sisters, Harriette and Alberta.
