AUBURN | David E. York, 47, 8851 S. Seneca St., Weedsport, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Upstate Medical Center. Until his retirement, David had been employed for 22 years as a corrections officer with the New York State Department of Corrections. He is survived by a son, Ryan York; five sisters, Debbie (Bill) Marventano, Patti (Rick) DeMaio, Carol (Bobby) Oganowski, Brenda (Stephen) Talbot and Margie York Conley; two brothers, Allen (Mary Ann) York and Donald (Connie) York; aunts and uncles, Allen and Carol Stevens, Linda Stevens, Mary Lou and Dick Broas and Barbara Malone; nieces and nephews, Anthony and Joseph Marventano, Jennifer DeMaio Forinash, Rick DeMaio Jr., Nathan York, Amanda York Brown, Stephen William David Talbot, Kacie York, Noah Conley, Whitney, Austin and Allyssa York; great-nieces and nephews, Payton DeMaio, Dominic Marventano, Joei Marventano and Candyce Forinash; several cousins, including special cousins, Tim and Mecie Stevens; and special friends, Rick Neuser, Jeff Lawton, Anthony Bradtke and Keith Kehoski. David was greeted by his mother, Joan; his faithful companion, Lady Sarah; his Grandpa Stevens; and his Uncle Donnie. Friends are invited to join the family for services to be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, at Cheche Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Calling hours for David will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home, 1778 Clark Street Road, Auburn. David loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a true blessing to all who knew him and it was an honor to call him brother, uncle and friend. He will be sorrowfully missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
