Sunday evening’s pleasant conditions won’t last. That backdoor cold front forecasters have been tracking is moving in from the northeast, and showers are expected to push across the Finger Lakes through this evening — with a thunderstorm or two possible, particularly north toward Geneva and Auburn as the front passes through. If any shower gets heavy, gusts could briefly hit 30 mph, so keep that in mind if you’re still out. Rainfall totals should stay light — under a tenth of an inch for most.
Behind the front, skies clear and temperatures drop into the mid-40s across much of the region overnight, with Ithaca and the southern valleys potentially dipping into the low-to-mid 40s. No frost concerns, and no NWS alerts are in effect.
Monday looks much more settled — drier air moves in behind the front, expect a comfortable start to the week.
