Weather forecast for the Finger Lakes: Warm Spell Fades as Cold Front Approaches Late Week

Temperatures topped out in the low-to-mid 80s this afternoon — the warmest day of the week — with Auburn and Canandaigua both flirting with 84°. Skies are mostly overcast regionwide as we head into tonight, but no rain is expected. Lows will drop into the upper 40s to low 50s overnight, with the coolest readings in sheltered valleys; no frost concerns at these humidity levels.

Wednesday stays above normal, but a moisture-starved cold front will push through during the afternoon. Most spots stay dry — cloud cover increases, temperatures ease into the mid-70s. The slight wildcard is an isolated shower or thunderstorm over the higher terrain near Corning and Watkins Glen late in the day, but even there, chances top out around 20%.

Looking further ahead: a stronger cold front arrives late Friday into Saturday with a better chance of showers, followed by a notably cooler weekend across the region.
