The cold front that pushed through this afternoon is doing its job — temperatures have already dropped into the low-to-mid 60s across the region, and they’ll keep falling through the night. Expect lows in the mid-40s to low 50s by morning, with northwest winds gradually easing. No frost concern tonight, but that changes tomorrow night.
As high pressure builds overhead Thursday, clear skies and light winds will set up ideal radiational cooling conditions. Lows could dip into the upper 30s Thursday night, and frost-sensitive spots — particularly the lower valleys around Watkins Glen and inland hollows near Bath and Corning — should be on alert. Cover tender plants before you head to bed Thursday.
Looking further ahead, enjoy the dry stretch while it lasts. A widespread, soaking rain event is on track for Friday night through Saturday night.
