Tonight looks quiet across the Finger Lakes. Skies will gradually clear as high pressure settles in from the eastern Great Lakes, with lows dropping into the low-to-mid 40s region-wide — touching 42° in Penn Yan and Bath by early morning. No frost alerts are in effect, but gardeners in the valley bottoms around Corning and Bath should keep an eye on tender plantings with temps that close to freezing.
Saturday starts on a decent note, but don’t get too comfortable. A mid-level shortwave and an approaching front will push showers into the area by afternoon, with a few thunderstorms possible by evening. The National Weather Service notes a strengthening low-level jet — winds of 35–45 knots aloft — feeding in deeper moisture and building instability, meaning any storm that does develop could produce gusty winds. Have a plan if you’re spending time outdoors Saturday afternoon.
Looking further out: summer-like heat is possible Monday and Tuesday before cooler air returns Wednesday.
