Enjoy these mild, dry hours while they last. Temperatures are sitting in the low-to-mid 60s across the region this evening, but conditions change overnight as a warm front associated with a surface low over the Upper Great Lakes pushes into the Finger Lakes. Rain showers are expected to develop after midnight and expand eastward through the early morning hours. Lows will drop into the low-to-mid 30s before the rain arrives — Bath is forecast to bottom out near 31° and Corning near 32° — so a brief frost window is possible in the coldest valley locations before clouds and moisture move in.
Wednesday turns cool, gray, and wet. The low becomes vertically stacked through the day, meaning showers linger well into the afternoon and evening with no quick clearing. Temperatures Wednesday will likely struggle to reach the mid-50s. The NWS notes heavier rain is most likely north and east of the lakes — but the entire region should expect a soaked Wednesday.
Better news: a significant warming trend is building for the latter part of the week.
