On Saturday, a Newark woman was arrested on an active arrest warrant for allegedly using her sister’s identity during a previous traffic stop.

Rebecca Hartman, 52, is accused of Criminal Impersonation in the Second Degree. According to Canandaigua Police, the warrant was issued after investigators discovered she had provided officers with her sister’s identification during a roadside investigation.

Following her arrest, Hartman was transported to the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment.

Officials noted that Hartman also faced an active bench warrant out of the City of Canandaigua for failing to appear in court regarding original charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
