Penn Yan Police report that Courtney Vu, 22, of Rockville, Maryland, was arrested following a traffic stop on Elm Street.

According to police, officers initiated the stop after observing a vehicle driving at night without headlamps or tail lamps. Upon identifying Vu, a subsequent DMV check revealed that her Virginia driver’s license was no longer valid. During the interview, officers noticed an odor of alcohol on her breath and observed several indicators of intoxication. Following standard field sobriety tests, which she failed, Vu was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail, where she allegedly refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Vu was processed at the police station and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Unlicensed Operator, No/Inadequate Head Lamps, and No/Inadequate Tail Lamps. She was transported back to the Yates County Jail to await centralized arraignment.

The charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. Police reports are automatically removed from this site after 90 days.
