On Friday, deputies with the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Cato man following an investigation into an incident in the Town of Cato.
Daniel Root, 56, of Cato, was taken into custody and charged with criminal contempt in the second degree and an aggravated family offense.
At approximately 5:20 a.m. on July 24, deputies responded to a residence in the Town of Cato after a female caller requested police assistance. Upon arrival, deputies discovered Root inside the residence alongside a protected party named in a full stay-away order of protection.
Root was transported to the Public Safety Building for processing before being remanded to the Cayuga County Jail following his arraignment in Cayuga County Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) Court.
