Following budget discussions, it was decided that Auburn’s Casey Park pool would not open for 2026; after this, the Auburn YMCA stepped in and announced it would financially support the pool, allowing it to open. Speaking on FLX Morning, YMCA Executive Director Scott Sincerbaux said the pool plays an important role for local children.

“I’ve been pretty vocal at City Council meetings about the importance of the Cayce Park Pool to provide a place for kids and families in the city to go on hot summer days. When I was a kid, it was a place that I went to, super important, and so really started looking for creative ways to figure out how to make sure that we got the pool open,” said Sincerbaux

Through an agreement with the city, the YMCA will donate lifeguards to keep the Casey Park pool operational. Additionally, the YMCA applied for a grant from Wegmans on behalf of the city for the purchase of chlorine.

Sincerbaux said the total financial support from the YMCA for the pool came to approximately $31,000.
