Drivers visiting the Victor Central School District campus should expect temporary traffic and parking changes over the coming months as work continues on the district’s capital improvement project.
School officials said the changes are designed to accommodate construction while allowing summer programs, athletic activities, camps and other scheduled events to continue without interruption.
Beginning Monday and continuing through Aug. 7, the road along the back side of the campus near the tennis courts will be closed while construction crews rebuild the intersection connecting a new parking lot to the roadway and reconstruct sections of the adjacent sidewalk.
During the closure, through traffic will not be permitted on the roadway, and several areas of campus will be inaccessible.
Despite the construction, parking will remain available in the lot near the tennis courts and at the Senior High School bus loop. Parking for evening and weekend activities will also continue in designated areas.
Additional changes will take effect beginning Aug. 24 as construction shifts to the front of the Junior/Senior High School.
At that time, the parking lots directly in front of the Junior and Senior High School buildings will close, and traffic will be rerouted around the overflow parking lot.
Until those changes take effect, the front parking lots will remain open. However, district officials said drivers should expect occasional delays as construction vehicles and heavy equipment move through the area. A flagger will be stationed on-site to direct traffic when necessary.
District officials thanked students, families, staff and visitors for their patience as construction continues and said the temporary traffic patterns are intended to ensure both public safety and continued access to campus throughout the project.
