Suspicious Device Prompts Police Response in Ithaca

Authorities responded to a report of a suspicious device on the 100 block of East Green Street in Ithaca Wednesday afternoon.

The Ithaca Police Department and Ithaca Fire Department were dispatched just before 3 p.m. March 31. Firefighters used hazardous materials detection equipment and determined the device did not pose a known threat. The device was then turned over to the Endicott Police Department Bomb Squad.

Officials say the incident appears to be isolated, and there is no known threat to the public. The investigation remains ongoing.
