A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of State Route 364 and Lovejoy Road in the Town of Benton Monday morning resulted in significant vehicle damage, but no injuries.

According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened just after 11. Deputies responded to the scene along with the Penn Yan Fire Department and Penn Yan Ambulance.

Investigators said 83-year-old Philip Bailey, of Penn Yan, was driving south on Lovejoy Road when he failed to yield the right of way after stopping at the stop sign. His vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by an eastbound vehicle on State Route 364 driven by 28-year-old Alexandra Griffin, also of Penn Yan.

Following the collision, both vehicles continued south on Lovejoy Road before coming to rest.

Bailey and his passenger, 77-year-old Nancy Bailey of Penn Yan, along with Griffin and two juvenile passengers in her vehicle, were able to get out of their vehicles before emergency crews arrived. All occupants declined medical treatment at the scene.

Both vehicles sustained heavy damage, including airbag deployment, and were towed from the scene.

Philip Bailey was issued a traffic ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
