New charges have been filed against the Canandaigua man arrested in March for allegedly cutting off his ankle monitor before his sentencing on a sexual predatory assault conviction.
Daniel Sevigny was charged with felony assault for allegedly attacking another inmate at the Ontario County Jail, which resulted in the victim suffering injuries.
After reportedly cutting off his ankle bracelet, police asked the public for help in locating the 43-year-old. An anonymous tip led to his capture at a home in Canandaigua less than 24 hours later.
In April, Sevigny was charged with rape for allegedly having sex with a woman without her consent and by force in January and February. Following arraignment, Sevigny was sent back to Ontario County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
