The local man accused of cutting off his ankle monitor last month before his court sentencing on his sexual predatory assault conviction is facing a new charge.
Daniel Sevigny of Canandaigua was arrested Thursday for rape. It is alleged that on multiple occasions in January and February, the 43-year-old had sex with a woman several times in Ontario County without her consent and by force.
After reportedly cutting off his ankle bracelet on March 14th, Ontario County authorities asked for the public’s help in locating Sevigny. Thanks to an anonymous tip, Sevigny was found at a Chapin Street home in Canandaigua the next day and taken into custody.
After arraignment on his newest charge, Sevigny was sent back to Ontario County Jail.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
