The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is being represented on the national stage this week as Sheriff David Cirencione attends and presents at a major public safety conference in Tennessee.

Cirencione is participating in Axon Week 2026 in Nashville, where he is a featured presenter for a session titled “Beyond the Walls: Creating Safer Jails for Stronger Communities.” The presentation focuses on how technology and integrated systems can be used to improve safety, transparency, and overall operations within correctional facilities.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Ontario County was among the first in the nation to implement body-worn cameras inside a correctional facility. Officials say the initiative has helped strengthen accountability, improve safety for both staff and incarcerated individuals, and increase transparency. That early adoption and experience contributed to the county being invited to present at the national conference.

The session highlights several strategies, including improving safety for staff and inmates, enhancing accountability through objective evidence, reducing use-of-force incidents and contraband, and strengthening facility operations.

Cirencione is presenting alongside public safety leaders from across the country, including Assistant Sheriff Michael Easton and Sheriff Craig Owens.

He is also being accompanied at the conference by Chief Deputy Stacy Lambert, a former chief correction officer, whose experience in corrections has played a role in advancing operations and safety within the Ontario County Jail.

Officials say participation in national conferences like Axon Week provides opportunities to share best practices, collaborate with other agencies, and bring new ideas back to support ongoing work within the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
